Short answer: to order custom-made furniture in Dubai, start with a clear brief (size, use, style and budget), get a quotation, approve a drawing and finish, then allow 2–4 months for production of handmade pieces. With ZW you can customise size, shape, wood colour, upholstery, pattern and even calligraphy or a family crest. Custom pieces are non-returnable, so the approval stage matters most.
What can be customised?
- Size: dining tables to fit your room, coffee tables to fit your majlis, mirrors to fill a wall.
- Shape: rectangular, square, round or oval tops; arched or straight mirror frames.
- Finish: wood colour and lacquer.
- Inlay: pattern, density of mother-of-pearl, and the mix of shell and wood mosaic.
- Calligraphy or crest: a welcome phrase, a verse, a family name or a company logo.
- Upholstery: fabric and colour on chairs.
- Matching sets: a sideboard, console or mirror to match an existing ZW piece.
The 7 steps
- Share your idea. Photos of the room, dimensions, a reference image or one of our products you want to adapt.
- Quotation. Price, lead time and delivery terms.
- Drawing. A drawing with exact dimensions and the pattern layout.
- Approval. You confirm the drawing and finish in writing.
- Production. Carving, drying, hand inlay and finishing by master artisans from Damascus (2–4 months).
- Quality check. Dimensions, inlay and finish checked; photos before dispatch on request.
- Delivery. Free within the UAE; GCC delivery quoted with your order.
How much does custom furniture cost?
A good starting point is the price of the closest ready-stock piece. Size, number of hand-set pieces and pattern complexity then move the price up or down. For reference, ready-stock coffee tables cost AED 12,995–18,395 and dining tables AED 7,495–19,595. See our price guide.
Why it takes 2–4 months
Solid wood must be carved and then dried so it does not move or crack later. Only then can the channels be cut and every piece of shell set by hand. Rushing the drying stage is the main cause of problems in cheap inlaid furniture. Read how Damascene furniture is made.
Tips to get it right
- Measure twice, including doors and lifts on the delivery route.
- Mark the piece out on the floor with tape before approving the size.
- Ask to see the finish on an existing piece in natural light.
- Keep calligraphy short: it reads better in inlay.
- Don't change the design after approval; it resets the timeline.
